PromptPilot ("we," "our," or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users write better AI prompts. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By installing or using PromptPilot, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. What We Collect

1.1 Prompt Text (Transient)

When you type a prompt in a supported AI platform (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini), PromptPilot reads that text solely to analyze its quality and generate a suggested rewrite. This text is transmitted to our secure API endpoint, processed, and immediately discarded — it is never logged, stored, or associated with your identity.

1.2 Anonymous Usage Analytics

We collect limited, anonymized analytics to understand how the extension is used and to improve it. This may include:

• Whether a suggestion was accepted or dismissed
• The quality rating assigned (Weak / Okay / Strong) — without the actual prompt text
• Which AI platform was active when the extension was used
• A randomly generated, non-identifying session identifier
• Extension version and browser type

This data contains no personally identifiable information (PII) and cannot be traced back to you.

1.3 Extension Configuration

Your extension settings (e.g., which platforms are enabled, preferred search engine) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's API and are never transmitted to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

• To provide the core functionality of PromptPilot: real-time prompt analysis and rewrite suggestions
• To improve the quality, accuracy, and performance of the extension
• To understand aggregate usage patterns and prioritize new features
• To diagnose technical issues and maintain service reliability

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating and improving PromptPilot.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

PromptPilot is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We explicitly do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any account information
• Your full prompt history or conversation history
• Browsing history, visited URLs, or page content beyond the AI chat input field
• Cookies, authentication tokens, or session data from third-party services
• Financial information or payment data
• Location data
• Any data from pages where PromptPilot is not explicitly active

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. We may share anonymized, aggregated analytics data with:

• Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting and API services that process requests on our behalf, under strict data processing agreements
• Authorities — only if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public

Any third-party service providers we engage are contractually required to handle data only as instructed and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

5. Data Retention

Prompt text submitted for analysis is never stored. It is processed in memory and discarded after the response is returned to your browser.

Extension configuration settings are stored locally in your browser and persist until you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• All API communication is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
• Our backend infrastructure is hosted on hardened, access-controlled servers
• We apply the principle of least privilege — only the minimum data required for a function is processed
• Regular security reviews and dependency updates

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of PromptPilot after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
